Champion Lakes
The Armadale Redevelopment Authority has appointed Benchmark Projects Australasia as the Project Manager for the development of the Champion Lakes International Rowing Course and Recreational Facilities on behalf of the Western Australian Government.
The development area is 138 hectares of land, the rowing course and associated water body covers 55 hectares alone. The rowing course is 2250 metres long and 150 metres wide and a warm up lake measuring 200 by 800 metres. The Project includes the completion of the rowing lake to meet International Rowing Accreditation Standards, development of the Rowing Facilities Island including an administration and clubrooms building, boatshed, start and finish towers and public facilities including recreational beach and barbecue areas.
In addition to the water body, the project provides for the development and sale of 12.6 hectares of Service / Commercial land, including short stay accommodation, function and convention facilities, a white water park and also some higher density residential land.
Landscape works include the recreation and restoration of 36 hectares of Conservation and Wildlife habitat areas with extensive planting of reeds within the water body and native vegetation around the site.
The southern portion of the site, covering 26 hectares, is to be developed into 300 Residential and Group Housing lots in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner, including smart subdivision design and water and energy efficiency in housing designs.
